Hygienist Services:

Lumino hygienists are enthusiastic about educating patients on the most effective ways to keep their teeth and gums healthy and long-lasting. They will advise you on all aspects of dental hygiene, including the use of toothbrushes, electronic aids, dental floss and inter-dental brushes.

During an appointment, our hygienists will carefully examine your teeth and gums, looking out for inflammation, bleeding, swelling and the presence of plaque and calculus. They will then remove any plaque and surface stains by gentle cleaning and polishing.

Seeing one of our hygienists on a regular basis will ensure that your teeth are kept in the best condition possible and will serve you well for the rest of your life.

If the mild form of gum disease, gingivitis, is left untreated it can turn into the much more serious periodontal disease. There are a number of stages of periodontal disease and they all affect the tissues supporting the teeth. As the disease gets worse the bone anchoring the teeth in the jaw is lost, making the teeth loose. If this is not treated, the disease might result in tooth loss.

Your Lumino dentist or oral hygienist can put you back on the road to oral health by scaling and cleaning the hardened plaque (tartar) from your teeth. In some cases, a course of antibiotics may also be prescribed. They will also advise you on how best to avoid the condition in the future.

Fillings:

Lumino dentists have access to a wide range of filling materials including: amalgam, gold, porcelain inlays, cerecs and white composite fillings. Your Lumino dentist will be able to discuss the various advantages and drawbacks of each type of filling with you, to ensure that you are entirely satisfied and comfortable with the end result.

Nervous Patients:

At Lumino The Dentists, we have treated numerous nervous patients, so don’t be scared to admit that a trip to the dentists doesn’t exactly fill you with joy. Our team, with their relaxed and informal approach, will help put you at ease and will do everything they can to help you overcome your fears.

If you are very nervous about treatment we can give you medication, such as Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) or intravenous sedation, which will quickly remove anxiety and make you feel relaxed.
